  1. In a second reply, how does one use jarfix - slightly more complex than I had imagined!
  2. Thanks for the help, I will try running the java fix and see if that helps. Thanks also for the tip about trusted downloads - I would only ever use official forge downloads, but useful nonetheless.
  3. I am new to forge, and have been trying to download to get create mod. I have followed countless youtube vid tutorials, contacted a friend, but to no avail. Here is what I'm doing: I go to the download page, click 1.16.5 and select either recommended or latest (I've tried both) I wait for 5 or so seconds and skip the ads Download appears in the bar: 'keep or discard', I click keep The first time it asked me what to open the download in, something that didn't happen in any of my tutorials. Stupidly, I clicked Internet Explorer. Now, whenever I click on the complete download, it launches an explorer page and asks me whether I want to open, save, or save as. Save does nothing when clicked, when you save as, you pick the location for the file to be saved. However the file you save just links right back to that same open, save, save as page when clicked, and when I right click and press 'Open With', the 'open with java...' thingy that they press in the tutorials to launch it is not there, just the usual options like MS word and paint. If you press open, explorer launches (again) and comes up with the same screen with the three options. I've attempted to download both these versions, plus 1.17 forge several times, all without success. I know it is rather an obscure issue, but if someone could help me solve this it would make my day. Many thanks P.S. I am not able to send screenshots of the computer for security purposes, please do not ask for them as I am unable to provide.
