Well, I've tried two versions, and I got both with the same result. I've done this with the recommended version, and I've done this with version 7.7.1.639
I can see why you think that. I'm guessing you're looking at the part that says Minecraft Magic Launcher 1.0.0. That is the launcher version, not the version of the game itself. I can assure you that I'm using Minecraft 1.5.1.
For a while now I have been trying to install forge for my mac in as many ways as I could look up on the internet. One way I have tried this is using the magic launcher. When I do this and test the game, I get this crash report:

If anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong if you recognize this crash report or how I could install using magic launcher that would be great. Another option if you want to take the time to do it is to put together a minecraft.jar for me that works and has forge installed.
