Sighshort

So I'm trying to load forge on my wife's computer and we can get it to load, can load a game in forge from the launcher... but when we select the mods screen both the mod and forge itself are greyed out and forge says that it (the newest release 1.18.2 - 40.1.0) is for an older version of minecraft. We are both currently running Minecraft Java version 1.18.2 and updated Java yesterday. Has anyone had this happen and/or know of a fix?
