Tried it and still does the same thing. The funny thing is if I went to add a new installation in Minecraft launcher, it shows up, but not the icon. Also when I try to play on that installation it says "unexpected error" or "game crashed"

I have been getting this error every time I try to install forge: "unable to find valid certification path to requested target" I have the latest java 17 version, yet this has still been happening.
