When i look in the bin folder of .minecraft it says that .minecraft is a .jar sorry, but at the moment my computer is not letting me post any of my files or jpegs to help

Hey, I'm trying to install forge 1.5.1 so i can get the Aether 2 mod. I've followed the directions and it worked the first time, then it force updated without me telling it to. Now when i try to get forge back into Minecraft, it doesn't work. I've followed the directions many times and I have sought out tutorials on how to get it to work. I have used; I followed his directions the first time and it worked. Then it updated Minecraft and it hasn't worked since. I've uninstalled/re installed everything and it hasn't helped. What am i doing wrong for forge not to work?
