ok I uninstalled and reinstalled the newest version of minecraft. Double checked. I actually thought I updated that too. Hmm. Will go update again. Was sure I removed and updated properly but I see not. I'll try both updating the outdated version and then manually installing the libraries. Thank you.

I'm not very fluent but when I was chatting with the help they looked into the server to tell me why I couldn't connect and told me that the server was failing to download the forge files required.
