I don't really think it's using Java 6, it just refused to install without it. It took a few tries but it finally installed after I got the Java 6 it wanted. So apparently it was my pre-existing mods (transferred in files from old computer) that was causing the crash - gonna have to get new versions of those mods I guess
Ok, so I got some sleep and went back at it - I found a JRE for 6 on minecraft forums and the first time forge installed it said it missed some libraries. Second time, it said it grabbed one required library. Now it shows up as a version of mc in the edit profile area, but it won't run, keeps crashing.
I've tried Installer and Installer Win - and even Universal (yes, I read statements but I did this before I read that). Both have same result. I have Minecraft version 1.11 and am attempting to install the 1.11 version of Forge for it. It never even installs, I click it, and I get the Java message.
As soon as I click the installer file it says this:
This Application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0
The only option is to press the OK button, which opens the Java page.
Greetings!
I am attempting to install Forge on my new ASUS computer, so I can have the mods I love, but every type of install I try is met with an error message that states that I need Java 6 - which is no longer offered by Java. How can I fix this?
