Forge installation causes Minecraft Launcher not to open

Recommended Posts

I've used forge for many years on my Mac and never had any problems, whatever version it was, it's always worked fine. Some time ago, however, out of nowhere, I noticed my minecraft launcher was simply not starting.

I tried everything I could find, looking for problems in my PC, on my minecraft file, everything. Still, nothing seemed to fix it. Finally, I decided to redownload minecraft and delete my files on the game (actually I kept a backup of the worlds, but anyways) and, to my surprise, it actually worked! I happily opened forge again, redownloading it from the official site, and installed it again, thinking I had solved the problem. I hadn't. Once I tried booting it up again, it stopped working.

I tried forge version 1.12.2, 1.15.2 and 1.16.5 and all of them caused the same problem.

One of the solutions I found online was for me to use the launcher executable (which make the console pop up, showing the process of opening the launcher) and it also didn't work. However, on the console, it was shown how the minecraft launcher was unable to launch because "nativeUpdater[2324:270459] Unable to load nib file: NativeUpdater, exiting". I tried opening the NativeUpdater executable and it showed the same thing.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? It had never happened, and nothing (to my knowledge) changed in my computer before it stopped working. Thanks!
