Forgive me in advance if this is the wrong thread.

So first off, I know nothing about minecraft, but i'm trying to help my son get some mods.

I have installed the mod, and minecraft forge but I'm unable to install forge after extracting.  I've looked everywhere and there's no installer file, or any .exe to run it.

I've read a few guides elsewhere and they said to run the forge.jar file, but I'm unable to locate that either.

If anyone can please point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The file you downloaded IS the forge.jar that you need to run with Java, which you need to install if you don't have it installed already.

Additionally, you can install Minecraft mods through CurseForge, which does have an EXE installer.

I'm not good at modding, but at least I can read a crash report (well enough). That's something, right?
