So, I recently built myself a dedicated machine to run a Minecraft server. Wanting to allocate as much ressources to Minecraft as possible, I decided to install Ubuntu Server 12.04 instead of the desktop version. It's quite a steep learning curve for me who've always dwelled in the Windows environment, but I figured "hey, you did program stuff in BASIC when you were 8 years old, how hard can it be to learn a few commands and set up a server?".

Being a Linux newbie however, and not having a GUI to work with, I find myself stuck trying to use the Forge Installer from the command line, as simply running the .jar file gives me error messages which can be simply described as "hey, your OS has no GUI!"

So, how should I proceed?

Either that or run

java -jar minecraftforge-installer.jar --installServer

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.
