Greetings,

I'm a beginner in modding, so I apologize if my question seems naive.

I'm curious to find out if it's possible to make Optifine HD 1.10 work alongside Forge. I understand that Forge 1.10 doesn't support mods for that version, but considering that 1.10 mainly consists of security fixes, wouldn't it be feasible to use Optifine 1.10 without encountering any issues? If Forge 1.10 support mods, sorry, but I can't find it. any help here?

1. Optifine is not supported here due to the fact that it overrides many of Forge’s API systems that are critical to many mods.
2. 1.10 is no longer supported here. We only support 1.18.x, 1.19.x, and 1.20.x.

I'm not good at modding, but at least I can read a crash report (well enough). That's something, right?

since you're new, i guess some positive words are in order: yes, you can use optifine as long as its version matches the game version you are running. find optifine for forge and put it into mods directory.

now smart words:
1) look - i understand wanting optifine. i played on low-spec machine for many years. but as of 1.16 we have performance mods that are better than optifine and don't break everything everywhere. move to 1.16 or 1.18.
2) whatever mods you think are the reason for staying at 1.10, there are alternatives for 1.18. trust me, move to 1.18 or higher.
