I am trying to make a mod with throwable javelins in it. Everything works, except when I go to pick up the javelin, Minecraft crashes. I get the following error:

[it's solved - no need now]

I have narrowed it down to lines 411 and 392 of this class:

[it's solved - no need now]

Please help.

Hi

You didn't show what the error was but I'm guessing it's a Null Pointer Exception?

Your variable Javelin is probably still null

PS - the convention in Java is to use Capital as first letter for Classes only, and use CamelCase for instances of the classes

eg

public class BlockJavelin {

}

BlockJavelin blockJavelin = new BlockJavelin();

Whoops! I'll have to show what the error was next time. That solved my problem though! Thanks!

P.S Do you know how to set the texture for the javelin when it has a damage value?

Hi

for Items try

Item.getIconFromDamage

When thrown - it depends - but the renderer often uses the Item.getIconFromDamage.  (For example RenderSnowball.doRender).
