[Solved] 1.7.2-10.12.0.968 Block.dirt compile error

I followed the instructions from the sticky [TUTORIAL] (http://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/index.php/topic,14048.0.html) and end up getting a compile error after the environment is setup with Eclipse. In their sample mod, it errors on line 18 at Block.dirt:

System.out.println("DIRT BLOCK >> "+Block.dirt.getUnlocalizedName());

If I comment out this line and try to run it again, it errors with:

[main/ERROR]: Unable to launch
java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.main([Ljava.lang.String;)
at java.lang.Class.getMethod(Unknown Source) ~[?:1.7.0_21]
at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.launch(Launch.java:131) [launchwrapper-1.9.jar:?]
at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.main(Launch.java:28) [launchwrapper-1.9.jar:?]

Which tells me it can't find Minecraft's main() class. Minecraft's class files exist in the Referenced Libraries > forge-1.7.2-10-12.0.968.jar section in .class form (no source code). All the imports in the sample mod don't give any compile errors.

This is my first time using Gradle, but I am experienced with setting up the 1.6.4 forge environment.

Hi

I had this issue earlier, then I deleted the forge install and tried again and I cant get it working anymore :(

This whole Gradle thing has made me feel really stupid

As it is beta ,  the minecraft source files are not completely deobfuscated, so when you parse the forge library and chech the block.class you will see that most of the variables, class and methods are not deobfuscated.

So it's not surprising that the block.dirt gives out an error.

You can try to play with the non deobfuscated fields, good luck !

For my part i will have wait for a more finished version of the thing.

But thanks for the Forge team for the great work anyway !

Although that may cause problems later, I don't think thats the issue that I am experiencing. If I comment out the Block.dirt line it still errors when attempting to find the main() method for Minecraft. Also, I don't even see the source files in Eclipse - should I?

This is what  my environment looks like: http://i.imgur.com/8Th7WpK.jpg

This should work in general.

Take care not to confuse the parameters you set and tha you use the mentioned build.

In 968 for example there are no run configurations that are in 971 as I have been told.

Also, once you get it to start, world generation can fail. Restart a couple of times if you get an error with WeightedItems. Dirty workaround, but will get you running.

Found in another thread the solution to the main() error. You need to change

–version 1.6 –tweakClass cpw.mods.fml.common.launcher.FMLTweaker –accessToken anything

to

--version 1.6 --tweakClass cpw.mods.fml.common.launcher.FMLTweaker --accessToken anything

in the run configurations

    • "I want to understand how complex mods with ASM transformation and coremods work, such as Xray or AntiXray. Why do they break when you simply rename packages? What features of their architecture make refactoring difficult? And what techniques are used to protect these mods? I am interested in technical aspects in order to better understand the bytecode and Forge loader system."

    • Title: Why Is It So Hard to Rename and Restructure Mods Like Xray or AntiXray? 🤔 Post text: Hey everyone! I’ve been digging into Minecraft modding for a while and have one big question that I can’t figure out on my own. Maybe someone with more experience could help or give me some advice. Here’s the issue: When I take a “normal” Minecraft mod — for example, one that just adds some blocks or new items — I can easily change its structure, package names, or even rebrand it entirely. It’s straightforward. But as soon as I try this with cheat-type mods like XrayMod or AntiXray, everything falls apart. Even if I just rename the classes, refactor the packages, or hide its identity somehow, the mod either breaks or stops working properly. XrayMod in particular is proving to be a nightmare to modify without losing its core function. So my question is — why is this so much harder with cheat mods like Xray? Is there something fundamentally different about how they’re coded, loaded, or protected that prevents simple renaming or restructuring? And if so, how can I actually learn to understand someone else’s cheat mod enough to safely refactor it without breaking the core features? I’ve already been spending over two months trying to figure this out and haven’t gotten anywhere. It feels like there must be some trick or knowledge I’m missing. Would really appreciate any thoughts, tips, or references — maybe there are guides or techniques for understanding cheat-mod internals? Or if you’ve successfully “disguised” a cheat mod like Xray before, I’d love to hear how you did it. Thanks in advance for any help or discussion. ✌️

    • Where did you get the schematic? Source/Link? And do use an own modpack or a pre-configured from curseforge? If yes, which one On a later time, I can make some tests on my own - but I need the schematic and the modpack name
