Installing Forge keeps crashing my Minecraft Java whenever I try opening it (Exit Code: 1)

Featured Replies

I am trying to mod my Minecraft Java Edition, but every time I try to run Forge, it crashes.

I am not very knowledgeable on computers or Minecraft, so any help would be appreciated! I installed Forge 26.2 and it will not allow me to run Minecraft with that installation. I have looked numerous places on the internet to try and fix it, but none of their tutorials worked. One thing I was curious about though was in some tutorials they recommend downloading JDK17, but it seems outdated and those tutorials were made years ago. There are now JDK 26, 25, etc. I already have JDK 25 downloaded and Java Windows Online. Oracle shows that JDK 17 had a change in policy and I don't know if downloading it would fix anything since it seems outdated. It also would require me to make an account with Oracle. I have tried updating my drivers, updating my computer, removing folders, deleting and reinstalling Forge, downloading older versions of Forge, adjusting RAM allocation, and I attempted running my Forge installation on Minecraft through JDK 25, but the tutorial said to run it through JDK 17. I also could have done it wrong.

If I need to send anything regarding my error, please let me know! I am actually going insane because it seems like nothing online can help fix my problem. Any help on why this is happening and how to fix it would be appreciated!
