I am damaging my item when crafting and the damage indicator is not updating until it happens again.

Is there a method that I can call to force a damage indicator update?

Without your code we cannot see if you are doing anything wrong.

Setting amount stored:

                    		itemStack.stackTagCompound.setInteger("amount", this.maxStored);

And get damage:

    @Override
    public int getDamage(ItemStack itemStack)
    {
    	if (isValid(itemStack, "amount") && isValid(itemStack, "name")) {
		int stored = itemStack.stackTagCompound.getInteger("amount");
		if (itemStack.stackTagCompound.getString("name").length() != 0) {
          			return (this.maxStored-stored);
         		}
    	       }
    	return 0;
    }

where isValid returns true if item has Nbt and the tag in question exists.

getDamage is called every tick I have the item shown in an itemSlot. (Checked with prints)

Is it not stored in the item nbt part of the players inventory when saved?

Also, showDurabilityBar and showDurabilityBar don't exist for items as a variable or a method.

But it shouldn't because the itemstack for my item and the other one is stored in a seperate part of the file... (For vanilla at least because I did some work with an out of game map editor)

    • The crash points to moonlight lib - try other builds or make a test without this mod and the mods requiring it
    • Do you have shaders enabled? There is an issue with the mod simpleclouds - remove this mod or disable shaders, if enabled
    • Maybe you need to create file in assets/<modid>/items/<itemname>.json with content like this:   { "model": { "type": "minecraft:model", "model": "modname:item/itemname" } }
