Hi!

I want to change a block texture depending on the players position and armor.

I tried to use:

    @SideOnly(Side.CLIENT)
    public void randomDisplayTick(World world, int x, int y, int z, Random rand)
    {
        super.randomDisplayTick(world, x, y, z, rand);

        Minecraft minecraft = Minecraft.getMinecraft();
        EntityPlayer player = minecraft.thePlayer;

        if(player.getDistance(x, y, z)<{
        	this.blockIcon=Blocks.acacia_stairs.getBlockTextureFromSide(1);
        	minecraft.renderGlobal.markBlockForUpdate(x, y, z);
        } else {
        	this.blockIcon=Blocks.air.getBlockTextureFromSide(1);
        	minecraft.renderGlobal.markBlockForUpdate(x, y, z);
        }
    }

But this always changed the textures of all blocks and i wasn't able to make the block transparent.

So i am now trying to use a tile entity special renderer but i don't want to recreate the whole Block model.

I just want to change the block icon(not the resource location) and to make the block invisible.

Is there any simple way to do this?

Ok, but how can i use block icons (not resource locations) inside my tesr? I want my block to use textures from vanilla blocks based on where its placed.

And is there an easy way to use the standard block model?

And what if i want to get the texture from a block thats added by another mod? Or is the TextureMap generated after Minecraft started and contains the textures from all loaded Blocks?

and i can get the position from the icons, right?  But how do i zoom in?

And is there any easy way to get the standard model or do i have to draw it wit a tessellator?

Well....

Ok, i somehow got it working using:

        tessellator.addVertexWithUV(0, 0, 0, minU, minV);
        tessellator.addVertexWithUV(0, 1, 0, minU, maxV);
        tessellator.addVertexWithUV(1, 1, 0, maxU, maxV);
        tessellator.addVertexWithUV(1, 0, 0, maxU, minV);

But i don't know when i draw which side.

(Need it for  block.getBlockTextureFromSide(1).getMinU()  )

can someone tell me where minecraft does this?

Ok, found the class that renders standard Blocks but its a mess.

Can someone help me to figure out how to render which side?

nah, its for a half side. :D

But i don't know which side. If i want to make my fake block as real as possible i have to get the correct min/max u/v for the correct side (0-5 i believe)

But i don't know what side is facing north, south, east, west up and down.

This part, right?

    public static final ForgeDirection[] VALID_DIRECTIONS = {DOWN, UP, NORTH, SOUTH, WEST, EAST};
    public static final int[] OPPOSITES = {1, 0, 3, 2, 5, 4, 6};

But for what is 6?

And another question:

tessellator.addVertexWithUV(x, y, z, u, v);

Now is:

x: south/north

y: up/down

z: east west

correct?

oh...

ok. But what side of a block does face what direction?

        double minUSide0 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(0).getMinU();

        double maxUSide0 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(0).getMaxU();

        double minVSide0 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(0).getMinV();

        double maxVSide0 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(0).getMaxV();

        double minUSide1 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(1).getMinU();

        double maxUSide1 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(1).getMaxU();

        double minVSide1 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(1).getMinV();

        double maxVSide1 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(1).getMaxV();

        double minUSide2 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(2).getMinU();

        double maxUSide2 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(2).getMaxU();

        double minVSide2 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(2).getMinV();

        double maxVSide2 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(2).getMaxV();

        double minUSide3 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(3).getMinU();

        double maxUSide3 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(3).getMaxU();

        double minVSide3 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(3).getMinV();

        double maxVSide3 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(3).getMaxV();

        double minUSide4 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(4).getMinU();

        double maxUSide4 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(4).getMaxU();

        double minVSide4 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(4).getMinV();

        double maxVSide4 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(4).getMaxV();

        double minUSide5 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(5).getMinU();

        double maxUSide5 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(5).getMaxU();

        double minVSide5 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(5).getMinV();

        double maxVSide5 = block.getBlockTextureFromSide(5).getMaxV();

this is a little bit useless if i place it at the wrong side...

Ok, now everything is working, but i still have a few problems with the block brightness and the color of grass.

Any ideas how to solve this?
