No problems running with it over here.  Can't really figure out how to test it, I just ended up with the default skin, and the website is short on details.  Using latest Forge (4.1.2.265).

Thanks for the reply :)

I'vr attached the error log. I use Magic Launcher mostly, but I've tried using MultiMC and I get the same error. I am running the latest Forge release (4.1.1.251) and I changed my Java from Java 6 to Java 7 (JRE). Still, the problem remains! I've deleted the META-INF folder from my minecraft.jar.

Best I can figure is that you've put the hdskins mod into the jar file AND into the mods/ directory.. but i also see you have forge and optifine in your mods dir, which isn't needed.

Can you tell me how you've done this with Magic Launcher or MultiMC?  I had to repackage the avc.class as a separate zip and load it as a jar mod.

That's what I did before, but I've re-installed Minecraft including using a new jar file and only deleting the META-INF folder. I've put Forge, OptiFine and HD Skins only in the mods folder. Even though the description bit for HD Skins says to put the mod_Hdskins zip in the mods folder and the avc.class file in minecraft.jar.

So should I put Forge and Optifine in my minecraft.jar and then load HD Skins as a mod in Magic Launcher?

With MultiMC, I chose my instance of minecraft, selected edit mods and put everything in the jar mods.

Here's how I did it with MultiMC:

Of course, start with a clean jar.

Load Forge and Optifine as Jar mods.

Take the avc.class out of the original zip and add this to the Jar mods as well.

Add the mod_HDSkins.zip in the Mods folder.

Right I've done all that, including taking the avc.class file out of the original zip and putting it into a new zip. Then put it under jar mods per your instructions. I load up the game, it runs fine. But when I join my server, I still only see my original Minecraft character and not the HD one?

This is interesting.  I signed up for hdminecraftskins for further testing, and sure enough, I couldn't get it to work with MultiMC.  I went over to MagicLauncher, set it up the same way.. and it only works when I use the Test button.  When I do an actual login, it does not.  It did load up fine when I used the Test button and connected to my local (vanilla) server, too, so I don't think there's any differences there.

I'm not entirely sure what the Test button does, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't actually authenticate you (you can't login to a server if it has online-mode=true set -- where it confirms that you are authenticated to the MC login servers).

So, in short, I got no clue on this one!  Sorry I couldn't be more help.  Would love to know if you figure it out, though.

The odd thing is I can't get it to load with Magic Launcher at all. Even if I just choose test, it'll still crash! I'm positive the only change I've made to minecraft.jar is to have deleted the META-INF folder. I haven't transferred any files from Optifine, HD Skins nor Forge into minecraft.jar.

However, it does work when I try MultiMC as I did what you suggested and zipped the avc.class file and put it into the jar mods. Even though it shows it's loaded along with the other mods in-game. My HD skin doesn't show?

Update: I've got it to work with Magic Launcher. I activated HD Skins as an external rather than internal mod and it loaded it. However, when I join my local server (on the same machine as the gaming one), my character still doesn't have the HD skin heh!

Issue resolved!

It turns out it was nothing to do with the mod files, minecraft.jar or any of the mod loading utilities like ML/MultiMC. All I had to do was login to HDMINECRAFTSKINS.com, disable my HD skin, then re-enable it. Lo and behold, I log-in to my server and there it is! Try it :).
