Need to cure a crash on map load that won't go away

Recommended Posts

It's a problem I have had for a long while now, but I can't figure out how to make it go away.

Clean install of Minecraft, removed ALL Java, JDK etc. and even reset the environment variale so there was no trace of Java anywhere.

Re-installed Java ( 1.7.0_71 ) and ran Minecraft once. works fine. Set up a 1.7.10 profile....ran that once ...works fine

Installed Forge for 1.7.10 recommended version ( 1230 ) and fired up Minecraft. Game loads fine, but crashes as soon as I load or create a map. Including a map that ran fine before Forge was installed. No mods other than Forge.

Here's the full error report:

Now...I have asked about this before, and was given a workaround, adding -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true to the launcher JVM arguments, and this does work fine. The issue I have now is that I want to start modding myself. I have been working my way hrough various Java courses etc. to get a good grounding on what is what, but I cannot get Minecraft with Forge to run under Eclipse to test my code.

I don't know how to apply the workaround to Eclipse.... but would actually much prefer sorting the problem itself! Annoyingly...both my kids PCs do not have this problem. One runs XP, one runs Win7 the same as mine. Mine screws up....there's do not! Even with a fresh install.

Is there a specific version of Java I need to run for Forge to avoid issues?
