I am trying to post a question about an error and want to insert the code and error message into a code section or spoiler alert section, but the buttons on this page don't seem to do anything.

 

How do you insert a code or spoiler section?

 

Is there some text tag I can use if I can't get the buttons to work?

Umm, ya there isn't a button for that, you have to use bbcode. The previous person explained it well while I was trying to get it not to convert from code. lol

Ok, so I tried that and I don't think it worked. 

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm in the wrong mode or have some setting wrong.  This probably shouldn't be this hard.  I'll try again.

oh.  you were just using the : as an escape character (embarrassed grin).
