Posted March 6, 201510 yr I'm very new at making a minecraft mod, and I'm stuck at trying to make a basic item. Whenever I try to run the mod, it crashes with this wall of errors: net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoaderException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: net.minecraft.item.Item.setUnlocalizedName(Ljava/lang/String;)Lnet/minecraft/item/Item; at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoadController.transition(LoadController.java:162) at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.Loader.preinitializeMods(Loader.java:516) at net.minecraftforge.fml.client.FMLClientHandler.beginMinecraftLoading(FMLClientHandler.java:243) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.func_71384_a(Minecraft.java:413) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.func_99999_d(Minecraft.java:325) at net.minecraft.client.main.Main.main(SourceFile:120) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.launch(Launch.java:135) at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.main(Launch.java:28) Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: net.minecraft.item.Item.setUnlocalizedName(Ljava/lang/String;)Lnet/minecraft/item/Item; at Bob.bobsCandymod.init.bobsCandyModItems.init(bobsCandyModItems.java:15) at Bob.bobsCandymod.Candymod.preInit(Candymod.java:21) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.FMLModContainer.handleModStateEvent(FMLModContainer.java:515) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventSubscriber.handleEvent(EventSubscriber.java:74) at com.google.common.eventbus.SynchronizedEventSubscriber.handleEvent(SynchronizedEventSubscriber.java:47) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventBus.dispatch(EventBus.java:322) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventBus.dispatchQueuedEvents(EventBus.java:304) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventBus.post(EventBus.java:275) at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoadController.sendEventToModContainer(LoadController.java:208) at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoadController.propogateStateMessage(LoadController.java:187) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventSubscriber.handleEvent(EventSubscriber.java:74) at com.google.common.eventbus.SynchronizedEventSubscriber.handleEvent(SynchronizedEventSubscriber.java:47) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventBus.dispatch(EventBus.java:322) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventBus.dispatchQueuedEvents(EventBus.java:304) at com.google.common.eventbus.EventBus.post(EventBus.java:275) at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoadController.distributeStateMessage(LoadController.java:118) at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.Loader.preinitializeMods(Loader.java:514) I'm using Netbeans to edit the files, and have the most recent versions of Minecraft Forge, Java, and Minecraft. I've looked around a lot but can't find a solution that works for me. Can anyone help? March 6, 201510 yr Author I've compiled it it into a .JAR file, put it into the mods folder, and attempted to launch the game.
March 6, 201510 yr Author Ah! That did it. My item is now a purple and black box, but at least it exists. I'll see if I can't figure it out some more from here. Thanks a lot.
