[Intermediate] [1.7.10] grid system (for pipes)?

So i've started work on my grid system (i'm wanting to add pipes to my mod) but don't know if the way i'm doing this is a good / efficient way of doing a grid system

So ive done more work on my grid system and no one has replied i guess im alone on this then or no one knows how to make a grid system (but someone must know as their are already mods with pipes)
