[Solved!][1.8.9] Block textures not rendering on item

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure why, but my block isn't rendering its textures as an item but when I place the block, it renders the textures.

Here is my code:

Blockstate Json

{
    "variants": {
        "normal": [
            { "model": "tetracraft:brox_stone" }
        ]
    }
}

Block Json

{
    "parent": "block/cube_all",
    "textures": {
        "all": "tetracraft:blocks/broxStone"
    }
}

Item Json

{
    "parent": "tetracraft:block/brox_stone",
    "display": {
        "thirdperson": {
            "rotation": [ 10, -45, 170 ],
            "translation": [ 0, 1.5, -2.75 ],
            "scale": [ 0.375, 0.375, 0.375 ]
        }
    }
}

Item Registry

package novaviper.tetracraft.main;

import net.minecraft.block.Block;
import net.minecraft.block.material.Material;
import novaviper.tetracraft.common.block.BlockModGeneric;
import novaviper.tetracraft.common.lib.ModReference;
import novaviper.tetracraft.common.lib.Registers;

/**

public class ModBlocks {

public static Block broxStone;

public static void load(){
	broxStone = new BlockModGeneric(Material.rock, "broxStone");
	Registers.addBlock(broxStone, "brox_stone");

}

public static void loadRenderers(){
	Registers.addBlockRender(broxStone, 0 , ModReference.modid+":brox_stone,", "inventory");

}
}

Generic Mod Blocks

package novaviper.tetracraft.common.block;

import net.minecraft.block.Block;
import net.minecraft.block.material.Material;
import novaviper.tetracraft.main.ModCreativeTabs;

/**

*/
public class BlockModGeneric extends Block {

public BlockModGeneric(Material materialIn, String unlocalizedName) {
	super(materialIn);
	this.setCreativeTab(ModCreativeTabs.tetraTab);
	this.setUnlocalizedName(unlocalizedName);
}

Also, here's is the registry code:

	public static void addBlockRender(Block block, int metadata, String blockString, String location) {
	Minecraft.getMinecraft().getRenderItem().getItemModelMesher().register(Item.getItemFromBlock(block), metadata, new ModelResourceLocation(blockString, location));
}

I can't see any obvious errors in your code.

Could you upload the FML log to Gist and link it here?

Are your files at tetracraft:blockstates/brox_stone.json, tetracraft:models/block/brox_stone.json, and tetracraft:models/item/brox_stone.json?

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

*Faceplam* I just figured out why it wasn't rendering as an item.. I put a comma at the end of the file name

Registers.addBlockRender(broxStone, 0 , ModReference.modid + ":brox_stone,", "inventory");  //There shouldn't be a comma there!!!

Ah, that would indeed screw things up.

I'm still surprised that there wasn't error in the log telling you that it couldn't find the model with that name.

I'm surprised too, I looked everywhere for an idea but none showed up

Please replace

Minecraft.getMinecraft().getRenderItem().getItemModelMesher().register

with

ModelLoader.setCustomModelResouceLocation

in preInit.

And I switched them

Make sure you call it in preInit.

Yep, that made it work (I had to change the item renderer method to the one you gave me because it made the game crash using the other one I had when calling it from my client proxy in preInt (I have my renderers in my client proxy for the purpose and registering the renderers on the client side instead of the server side.)
