Requiring a new version of java

Recommended Posts

I used streams and lambda expression in a few places to make a few methods easier to implement.

I wasn't able to run my project so I did the setup and eclipse again just to refresh my workspace but that didn't fix it. I tried building and the build failed with this:

warning: [options] bootstrap class path not set in conjunction with -source 1.6
{folderlocation}.java:80: error: lambda expressions are not supported in -source 1.6

(use -source 8 or higher to enable lambda expressions)

I know if I require java 8 or higher than people will need to have that to play with this mod but will making this change cause compatibility issues with other mods? If it won't cause problems where would I tell it to compile with -source 8?

Current Project: Armerger

Planned mods: Light Drafter  | Ore Swords

Looking for help getting a mod off the ground? Coding  | Textures

You can tell Gradle to compile your code with Java 8 compatibility by adding these two lines to build.gradle. You may still need to set the compatibility level of your IDE project manually.

Compiling a mod with Java 8 compatibility shouldn't interfere with any other mods.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
