[SOLVED][1.9] Forge Mdk gradle gets stuck in > Building > :decompileMc

I downloaded Forge 1.9 - 12.16.0.1836 Mdk. I extracted the zip and followed the README file to the second step. After some time it got to:

and has been stuck there for over 15 minutes.

What should I do?

Oh and I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 and if you are not familiar with Linux and are wondering what sakari is it's my username

You need to assign more memory to gradle. In windows you do this through environment variables. -GradleOpts i think. I don't know how to do this on linux though. I think different distros, set-up things differently.

How long should the decompilation take? My computer doesn't say anything about RAM or that error in the tutorial. It just does nothing, the terminal seems to freeze but Ctrl+C kills the process.

Hi, while decompiling does take longer than the other processes, not that much longer. First, kill the process if it is still running. As Cerandior stated, try assigning gradle more memory. You can do this by creating a file called gradle.properties in the same folder as gradlew. In the new file, add this line:

 

org.gradle.jvmargs=-Xmx2048M

 

This will assign gradle 2 GB of memory, which should hopefully be enough to decompile MC in less time. After creating the new file and adding this line, try to setup the workspace again.

I already assigned some more memory for it, and I assume 2048M is the same as 2G. I have had the decomp running again for about half an hour and it's still stuck there.

 

EDIT: Oh, but I have the .properties in the .gradle folder. Should it be in the main directory where all the Forge stuff is ('eclipse', 'gradle', 'src' etc.)?

 

EDIT 2: OK thanks, SteakHead! I misread the tutorial, but you made me realize that gradle.properties has to be either in ~/.gradle or in the directory I extracted the .zip. But anyway, thanks to you all for your answers!
