Serious sound related issues with 1.10.2

I am having issues with sound in the game.  Vanilla 1.10.2 there is no issue and using Optifine is not causing issues.  When I log into Minecraft using Forge only the sound does not work and I have to repeatedly shut minecraft down and come back in in order to have sound in the game. 

 

I would deeply appreciate it if you can fix this issue so that I can enjoy the game. 

 

I am not experiencing any crashing other than lag when there is no sound.  The only mod that I am using is BiomesOPlenty mod and that is it.
