hi guys, i'm total noob in forge, just made it compile and run correctly.

i had simple mod which modifies flying mechanics. to do so i modified EntityPlayerSP class. is there a way to have same effect without need to modify base class? if none, how should i release mod after changes?

ok, forget it. i modified base class, made mod_*.java. it works perfect when i run it in mcp, but doesn't work at all when i put in my minecraft\mods folder. it shows that mod is loaded, but it looks like fml ignored modified base class. why?

edit : had to put in manually in minecraft.jar, obviously it works fine after that. but isn't fml supposed to do that instead of me?

You have to tell it to do it for you.

Look in NEI.

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.

Don't PM me, I don't check this account unless I have to.

FML/forge mods do not edit base-classes.

You are doing things wrong.

Look into doing it as a coremod, using access transformers, reflection, and ASM.

Edit--NEI is a great example of the correct way to do such a mod, as the previous poster suggested.
