All the tutorials seem to be speaking of packages that go

assets.<mod_id>.models.item. for item jsons and assets.tutorial.textures.items for item textures.

My file tree looks like this and has no "assets" folder whatsoever. What am I missing?

And I made the models.items folders my very own self by creating new folders in File Explorer. How come everyone else has assets folders and premade texures.items and I dont :(

(I can't link the model json to the texture due to this)

You have src/main/java and src/main/resources folders. The assets folder is underneath the resources folder, and not under the java folder.

This is not weird at all, this is how it is supposed to be.

Thanks a lot for a quick answer on such a nooby question, but here's another one :

The resources folder is absolutely empty (apart from one file). Do I create the "assets" folder etc. manually or did something go wrong?
