Hi.

How can I save a HashMap which stores a BlockPos and an EnumFacing to NBT data and read it in?

HashMap<BlockPos, EnumFacing>

Thx in advance.

I've been always using a NBTTagCompound saving first the amount of entrys as an int.

And than saving each entry as an additiona NBTTagCompound using a simple For loop to add a number to the name.

How to read it is maybe self explanatory.

I'd recommend serializing the HashMap to JSON (String) through Gson

Gson::toJson returns a JSON string representation of the provided object.

Gson::fromJson returns a new instance of the provided class, using the provided JSON string.

If you have null values in your map, and want to keep them (for whatever reason) you need to use GsonBuilder with serializeNull (or whatever it is called, not at my PC right now) chained. Gson skips null values by default.

I'd recommend using a list of compound tags, each one containing a key-value pair.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
