I cannot figure out how to use mods with forge

I'm probably just being stupid, but for the life of me, I cannot get SkyFactory 3 mod to work. I've installed the correct version of forge, it shows up in the launcher. I've placed skyfactory files in the mod folder, and it still doesn't show up in forge. Can someone explain how to do this in simple, idiot-proof terms? Thanks.

It's likely this is some version problem. Could you please post the links you've used to download forge and SkyFactory 3 mod?

SkyFactory is not a mod. It's a modpack. It's easier to one-click download it with Twitch launcher. But if you want to install it manually, place files into .minecraft folder or the folder which you chosen to run profile in.
