Currently there is no good way to access the various variables related to making the player able to sleep. You cannot make the player sleep on something that doesn't return true in the blocks isBed method (like vanilla blocks), change the amount of time the player has to sleep or otherwise interact with the mechanic without using reflection, changing the EntityPlayer object or some other operation that is neither as easy to use as, say, an event, or convenient to create. A way to hook into this mechanic would greatly simplify changing it and would benefit a lot of people I believe.
