I just upgraded my motherboard, CPU, and ram and after a while, I tried to install optifine without forge. it didn't show anything and about 2 seconds later it created a crash log on my desktop.

I reinstalled java and updated my graphics drivers and nothing worked. so I tried to install forge to see if that worked, and it to create a crash log after not opening. I also tried the ATlauncher but

it did the same thing. no idea whats wrong if anyone can help me I would appreciate it. the forge log that got created is attached.

Have you uninstalled optifine?

Also how much RAM do you have installed in your computer?

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

How did you install Java? Because this is not coming from Minecraft or Forge, this is coming from Java having issues with a native DLL.

I don't really know what a native dll is, but do you have any idea of how I can fix it? and is it possible that it is making some other software on my pc fail to load also?

I mean a code library that is specific to your OS or hardware, in this case Direct3D 9.

Have you tried doing a full uninstall and reinstall of your GPU drivers or did you just update?

So try uninstalling it and re-installing it.

This is outside my area of expertise, but you could try running dxdiag, in the display tab there's a notes box... see if it lists any problems in there.

hs_err_pid errors are always nasty.

Are you trying to install forge or launch it?

I don't think your issue is with the path variable.

What is the output when you Launch Command Prompt and enter:

java -version

Posted

C:\Users\User>java -version
java version "1.8.0_171"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_171-b11)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.171-b11, mixed mode, sharing)

Yes, it is possible that it could be a hardware issue. A place like stackoverflow will probably be able to help you more than we can as this is an issue with the JVM and not forge.

Nah its no problem. This is quite an advanced error and it is very difficult to figure out what causes them. I usually get these on the custom hardware I develop for but I don't have enough experience with PC's and their hardware to know what exactly would cause it.

Which installer have you tried exe or jar.

The only other thing I can think of is asking you if any other java based applications work on your computer.

Posted

i did the exe i guess. how do i get the jar?

minecraft works but the ATlauncher forge and optifine all create the exact same error log

Posted (edited)

The jar is avalible from the forge files section try installing it with the jar. Yes the log will have a different number each time.

hs stands for Hotspot

err stands for error

pid refers to process ID

The number is the process ID
