Good day everyone,

 

I am apologising in advance as I am sure this topic has been beat to death with previous posts but I am still getting use to all of this Minecraft stuff. My 4 year old went from playing Minecraft to watching all of the videos online and now he is in to mods and wants to get lucky blocks. I have done some research and gotten some downloads and cannot seem to get the Forge working. We are using the Minecraft Windows 10 edition and I read somewhere that it cannot be modded or use the forge but I do not know so wanted to ask the experts here. I do not know if there is a step by step instruction for this anywhere but any and all help with this will be appreciated. I would love to get the lucky blocks installed for my boy.

 

I have installed the Forge, I forget the version but was getting what was suggested for Windows 10. When I open Minecraft I do not see any option to change the profile to open the Forge, it always just opens mine as it logs in to Xbox Live (not sure if this is related or not). That may be where I am stuck but would like to cover all of the basis is I can.

Thank you. If it was just me I would be content but seeing as it's for my son I will switch to Java. Will I need to remove the current Windows 10 version or do you think I can install the Java version and keep my current version installed? Wondering as I have purchased a couple mash up and some skins for us with the Windows 10 version.

They can both be installed on one machine, but note anything you purchased through Bedrock's in-game store will not exist in Java Edition.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

 

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

Thank you for the information. Knowing I can have both installed is good to know. Saves me removing a version. This gives me something to do tonight. 

 

I really appreciate the help and my son is going to go crazy once he sees we have lucky blocks.

uh so do i have to purchase java??? if i have windows 10 edition

because i don't wanna purchase minecraft again

i have been trying to get the fire and ice mod

Yes you will have to purchase Java Edition separately if you want it.

If you want mods it's not a matter of "worth". Mods only exist on the Java Edition.

i have mods on bedrock edition,they do exist
