I just recently learned how to create and host my own server to play with some friends on vanilla minecraft servers, and it works perfectly everytime. But whenever I try to launch the forge.jar file to load mods onto my server, it does not launch at all, so none of the folders I need can be created. I've tried creating a .bat file to increase allocated ram and also see the error messages command prompt gives me, but I couldn't find an answer to this problem anywhere. I really hope someone can help me soon.

If you already have a Java 8 version installed and run into this issue then you had a later version installed at the same time.

If this is the case you need to specify the full path to the Java 8 java.exe instead of just invoking "java".

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.
