Can someone please Explain!! I'm trying to make a block that when you are walking on it gives a jump boost.how do I fix this or do it correctly?

eclipse is giving me this error: The method onEntityWalk(World, BlockPos, EntityLivingBase) of type JumpPad must override or implement a supertype method

@Override
    public void onEntityWalk(World worldIn, BlockPos pos, EntityPlayer player) {
        // TODO Auto-generated method stub
        super.onEntityWalk(worldIn, pos, player);
        if(!worldIn.isRemote) {
            player.addPotionEffect(new PotionEffect(Potion.getPotionById(8), 200, 4));
        }
    }

That tells you the problem in plain English. Did you change the method signature? Did you copy /paste the code from somewhere else? If you did the name of the method could have changed

sorry still trying to understand java, i used the CTRL + SPACE feature in eclipse to locate the method and i dont know what to say about the signature

Knowing java is a bit of a pre-requisite for Modding. Googling the relevant part of the error

Will probably tell you what you need to do. By method signature I mean the name, parameters, keywords (access / static / final - public in your case) and return type (void in your case). Did you change it at all?

Does the class that you’re extending provide that method?

yes i did change the signature and realize thats probable the issue. im going to go total noob in modding and i think im going to scrap that chunk of code for the moment and my goal is to check if the player is on the block and if so apply a potion effect to the player so would i use onEntityColideWithBlock() or onEntityWalk()?

I think you probably want onEntityWalk. I can’t see anything obviously wrong with your code (Your potion effect looks a bit odd, but I have no experience with potions), but you can’t change the signature of a method & still override it, that’s not how it works

Potion.getPotionById(8)

Don't ever use numerical IDs, they can and will change unpredictably between worlds. Use the MobEffects class.
