NotA_Secret Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Hey, me and my friends are about to start a forge server to have fun in. We all have the mods installed, and so does the server, however both my friends are able to join it, excluding me. We had a different server, which wasn't modded, but i was able to join it. Now that we have a different one, i am not able to join it. I can join other servers, like Hypixel, but this is a problem I would really appreciate some help Quote
cheese_the_acid Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 This problem probably lays with your friend hosting the forge server. Here are some steps for you friend: Step 1: Open Command Prompt, and type ipconfig, they need to copy the address next to the title IPV4 Address Step 2: Open the server preferences file found in the forge sever folder, paste the IP address next to the sever ip= title Step 3: Make sure you have port forwarding on, the port needs to be 25556, this needs to be forwarded to your PC, ie, the device with the IP Address found in step 1. Step 4: You should now be able to connect to the sever via your forge client on the minecraft launcher, the ip address for the server will be the one found in step 1 Once your friend has done those step and verified that they can connect to there own server, you need to do the following: Step 1: Click edit on the server you have already made Step 2: Ask your friend to type in to google "what's my IPV4" this will give you their public IPV4 Address. (Note this will be different to the IP address gained from the ipconfig command as that provides your friend with there private ipv4 address) Step 3: Once you have this, enter it in to the Server Ip Box followed by ":25565". The sever ip box on your screen should now look something like this "88.71.45.1:25565" Step 4: Click connect and it should work, assuming your friend has the server running. Quote
DavidM Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Can you try pinging your friend's server? Quote Some tips: Spoiler Modder Support: Spoiler 1. Do not follow tutorials on YouTube, especially TechnoVision (previously called Loremaster) and HarryTalks, due to their promotion of bad practice and usage of outdated code. 2. Always post your code. 3. Never copy and paste code. You won't learn anything from doing that. 4. Quote Programming via Eclipse's hotfixes will get you nowhere 5. Learn to use your IDE, especially the debugger. 6. Quote The "picture that's worth 1000 words" only works if there's an obvious problem or a freehand red circle around it. Support & Bug Reports: Spoiler 1. Read the EAQ before asking for help. Remember to provide the appropriate log(s). 2. Versions below 1.11 are no longer supported due to their age. Update to a modern version of Minecraft to receive support.
