Does mods work with existing multiplayer worlds?

Hi all, I have just installed forge and a lucky block mod but am unsure if the new mod will work with my current multiplayer server with my friends on it. Anyone able to advise me on this? I couldnt find any support from old threads in "Modder Support" too... I have attached some ss for referencing if anyone needs it.

That's a Spigot server, not a Forge server... modded blocks will not work on a non-Forge server

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

 

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

 

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

Hey DaemonUmbra, thanks for the reply!

 

I managed to duplicate the Spigot server and created a new multiplayer test server and it was able to let me use the mod... ☹️

Or maybe I had somehow managed to create a Forge server using a Spigot-1.13.2.jar file?

More likely the client component of the mod is showing you the modded blocks and items in the creative menu because you have the mods installed on your client, but as soon as you join the server and try to spawn blocks or items from the mods it won't work.

I see... Are there any ways for me to change out the server/extract out my data and use it on a Forge server? I doubt that there will be any workaround since there is already so much progress right? 

 

As for creating a Forge server, do I just use the generic run.bat file?

You must start the Forge jar that's generated by the installer. minecraft_server.jar always starts a vanilla server.

Hey diesieben07 thanks for the clarification too.

 

Can I then just replace the spigot jar file with the forge jar file? Will that enable my current worlds to be able to use the lucky block mod?

It sounds like you're trying to use Spigot plugins with Forge mods, I would recommend you use Sponge if you need to use plugins because it is designed to work with Forge to a degree.
