Problem with installation / forge not in launcher or in versions folder

Hey guys,

first I want to thank you for the good work.

 

I have a weird problem. I installed version 1.14.4 / 28.0.22. This version crashed at start because of missing libraries. I tried to find a solution but couldn't find one. As in a thread here on this forum suggested I tried version 1.14.4 / 28.0.23.

 

This time there seemed something off with the installation in it self. The log window displayed only "Finished" (see first image attached). The forge jar file was copied in my .minecraft folder (see second image), but versions folder just has a folder for vanilla 1.14.4 and nothing else (see third image). I can not select a forge version in the settings of the minecraft launcher (see 4th image).

 

I tried to fix the problem myself by uninstalling the minecraft launcher, deleting minecraft and I tried older versions. While taking attached screenshots and writing this post I saw version 28.0.24 and also tried it. It didn't work either.

 

Note that I moved the .minecraft folder and I am using a --workDir to run it.

It sounds like the first time the client install failed and you didn't know what went wrong.

The second time sounds more like you selected "extract" instead of "install", this option will only produce the Forge jar and will not install Forge in a way that Minecraft will recognize.

Make sure you select the client install option and if you still have an issue provide the installer log from that run.
