How to change the way that an item appears on your hand?

I don't know how to describe it properly but I think you get what I want to do.

I made an custom wand item but it looks strange on third person view, and in first person I wanted to make it look like holding the trident but I don't know how and didn't find anything on google.

Normally the appearance of items can easily be changed using the correct model json file. Just look at the models for the trident and help yourself.
