Posted August 20, 20196 yr TALKING POINT: Yesterday, Monday August 19, 2019, Minecraft announced they will be implementing what sounds to be a new (optional?) rendering system to the game to implement light ray tracing. What are your thoughts on this? What impact will that have on the modding community? Are you ready to do custom rendering in something other than OpenGL? Will it it be easier? Harder? What impacts will this have your existing mods? As a modder myself with lots of custom rendering, I'm a little nervous to dive into something completely different, but I think it will really make our mods stand out. Learning a new rendering "language" will be interesting, tough, and hopefully rewarding. I think it'll bring a new light to us as modders and bring modding back into high popularity.
