1.12.2 Running out of Memory?

HELP!! I asked this issue before and I am unable to find out WHERE to change the memory things for like the Xmx so that it stops crashing. I set it in the vanilla launcher to 14gb but it says that it is using less.
- I am using latest version of forge
- I am using latest version of mods
- I ONLY have 64 bit java
- I launch from vanilla launcher
Please help me fix this PLEASE

When it comes to JVM args later ones override earlier ones, you set it to 14G (don't do that, I recommend 4G for general use, 6G if you have heavy mods and a strong enough CPU to handle the garbage collection), then you set it to 512M (I'm assuming you accidentally changed the xms to xmx)

See heres the thing. I NEVER set 512 mb anywhere!!!!!

I changed the 1gb to 14gb the first time, (just now changed it to 6gb) but I never changed anything else. I DONT KNOW WHERE the 512 is coming from!!!!!!!

I removed the 512 from my environmental variables in advanced system settings but now i am getting heap errors

Did you restart your launcher to make sure it got a fresh copy of your environment variables?

Also: Who told you to set the variable?
