I downloaded the stable version of forge, but I can't install it. When I try to open it, the computer will show a black window and disappear instantly. I have installed the latest version of java8. Some people say that there is a lack of Environment Variables. I fixed it as directed and passed the "java" test in cmd. However, the problem has not improved, and then I found that I also could not open the Light and Shadow Plugin installation package. The same problem, when you open the program with "java.exe", a black window will appear on the computer (just a flash) and then nothing will happen. Could somebody help me?(I am using win10 64)

Run the installer from the command line and post the output.

The format should be correct, because I successfully started my steam in the same way.

Windows is hiding the file extension from you while the command you need to run requires it

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

I'm assuming the installer is in your downloads folder?

So far you have attempted this command in your user folder and in a .minecraft/forge folder

I don't know what happened, but it worked. I have successfully installed forge, the only thing I did was move the installation files to the download folder. As a result, I successfully opened it using cmd.

Thank you and all of you
