Alright, so i've recently redownloaded windows 10 so I had to make a new server on my pc. But it didn't work this time.

I downloaded the 1.12.2 version of the minecraft server on the mcversions website, then i set the eula to true and downloaded the recommended 1.12.2 forge .exe and installed it on the server folder, but when running the forge server it just doesn't work and doesn't output any logs or anything. The forge .exe successfully installed the libraries and the vanilla 1.12.2 server works, but the forge doesn't. I installed jre version 8 and double checked that it runs the .jar using java, but still didn't work. I even tried installing jdk in a last ditch effort but nothing works. Plus, tried redoing every step and im running out of ideas please help.

Try running the server from the command line, what does it say?

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.
