I heard that im not supposed to follow youtube tutorials like technovision and harrytalks, but if so, then what is the best way of learning to code and create a minecraft mod? (assuming the person already has basic understanding of Java)

Vanilla code is the most useful resource you can find, other than that I encourage you look at other people's code. Some nice examples are Choonster's Test Mod 3TGG's Minecraft by exampleCadiboo's Example Mod and Vazkii's Botania.

It's sad how much time mods spend saying "x is no longer supported on this forum. Please update to a modern version of Minecraft to receive support".
