So in the latest beta version of Forge (1.16.1) when you install the latest version of Optifine (1.16.1) and apply a shader, any items that you have will have no texture and will be invisible. Although the items themselves are invisible, the tooltips for the items and the stack number are still visible. I do not know if this is an issue with Forge or with Optifine though. Even using the internal shaders will produce this effect.

Make sure you download your optifine from optifine.net and go to the preview versions. If that's not your problem you may have some textures missing, but I doubt this because the blocks are loading their textures.

This is an Optifine issue, not a Forge issue.

Forge is open source, Optifine is not.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

Install Forge 32.0.39, it works fine on that version.

Also, the only site that you should ever download Optifine from is optifine.net, the link OP posted is giving me exe files full of viruses.
