Hello,

I've been trying to setup a new 1.16 instance using the CurseForge/twitch tool. The Minecraft launcher works fine once the instance is installed, but every time I ty to lanuch the forge profile on it, the game just launch to crash instantly.

So far, I've tried to:

- Update Java; it is now on the latest version on my PC

- Repair the Twitch profile

- Deleting and reinstalling the instance sevral times using different profile names

- Launching the instance without any mod; just Forge alone

without any success. Every time, the logs produce the same lines:

I've noticed something in these logs: the files directories are all wrong. I have no "Users" folder on my C: drive, but an "Utilisateurs" (users in french, the language on witch my Windows 10 is installed) instead; could this be the problem? I'd think that windows could handle translation for such critical folders.

Other than that, the fml.toml file is in the right folder (the "users" part asside), but I have no "forge-1.16.1-32.0.75-client.jar" file at the folder pointed; just those instead: "forge-1.16.1-32.0.75.jar", "forge-1.16.1-32.0.75-clientdata.lzma" and "forge-1.16.1-32.0.75-universal.jar"

Help pls?

I believe this is Twitch failing to install Forge properly.

I recommend using Twitch only to install packs but not run them.

  1. Install the pack on Twitch
  2. Get the latest version of Forge for the Minecraft version the pack uses and install it
  3. Open the Minecraft Launcher
  4. Make a new "Installation"
  5. Set the Installations Forge version and set the Game Directory to the folder where twitch installed the pack (in Twitch's Instances folder with the same name as the pack)

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

Thank you for your anwser; it look like it is! I folowed your instructions and got my pack to launch and run like a charm. Like you said, I must use the Minecraft launcher and not the Twitch one for the pack to run, otherwise it crashes every time, producing the same logs. Guess I need to report the issue to Curse/Twitch then.

Thanks again for your help!
