I am trying to load forge via the twitch launcher to play modpacks and no matter how many mods are in the pack, even if there are no mods, forge crashes either before or just as the deep scan is starting. I searched through the files and optifine was not in any of the files. Please help, I want to be able to play mods on newer versions of minecraft with the new features from vanilla. Edit: This has been happening for months and I always update forge before trying. It is currently on version (31.2.9), which is the latest version available for twitch. Also, I have only found one post on any website about this problem, and  it does not have a solutions that works for me

I recommend using Twitch only to install and manage packs but not run them, try the following:

  1. Install the pack via Twitch
  2. Install the version of Forge that the pack requires
  3. Make a new "Installation" in your launcher, setting its "Minecraft Version" to the correct version of Forge for the pack and setting its "Game Directory" to the folder that Twitch installed the modpack to
  4. Run the pack with the normal Minecraft Launcher

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.
