unable to download forge on Mac

the icon for forge has changed from the normal jar final icon that looks likee a tea cup to a edit note icon, ever since this change my Mac is unable to recognise the file anymore and I can't download it or open any of the mod files to edit them. is there anyway I can revert back to what it was like previously as it used to work fantastically.

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.
