So I just got a new computer and wanted to install forge on it to play modded minecraft. I attempted to install forge onto it and didn't have the ability to open the installer, so I went and downloaded java at the latest version(this was a month or 2 ago). Every time I attempt to open the installer now it opens for a split second and then closes. I was hoping to fix it by manually putting forge onto my computer by manually transferring the minecraft files form one computer to another but I figured I would attempt asking for a solution here first.

I have the same issue :( ive tried un installing java and re installing it, also it seems that the only ones that arent installing are forge versions above 1.12.2 for me and i have noticed that the other versions dont have the "Windows installer" option and instead they just have Installer.

Do you have an antivirus that might be blocking Forge's installer?

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

Have you tried disabling it when running the installer?

I attempted turning it off and it still just opened for a moment until turning off again. If it makes any difference it opens my computers command prompt for half a second specifically not the actual forge installation window.
