Render an image over the hud?

Hi

yes there is; many ways in fact

eg if you hook into RenderWorldLastEvent, you can then draw whatever you want over the top of what has been drawn already.

@ForgeSubscribe

  public void drawSelectionBox(RenderWorldLastEvent event)

  {

      // put your rendering code here

  }

called from here

EntityRenderer.renderWorld

Is that what you were looking for?

Hi

Hmm that varies quite a bit depending on what you want to render.

Fonts I don't know about, but the vanilla code has lots of examples

  eg TileEntitySignRenderer.renderTileEntitySignAt

  or GuiTextField.drawTextBox.

General textures I know  a bit about-

If you tell us what exactly you want to do, then wiser folks than I might be able to chip in with something helpful.

If you want to render anything in the 3D world you can use RenderWorldLastEvent like TheGreyGhost explained. If you want to draw anything on your 2D HUD however, you could implement ITickHandler and do your rendering every render tick.

@SideOnly(Side.CLIENT)
public class TickHandler implements ITickHandler{
    @Override
    public void tickStart(EnumSet<TickType> type, Object... tickData){

    }

    @Override
    public void tickEnd(EnumSet<TickType> type, Object... tickData){
        if(type.contains(TickType.RENDER)) {
              //Render code here, use the links TheGreyGhost gave you
        }
    }

    @Override
    public EnumSet<TickType> ticks(){

        return EnumSet.of(TickType.RENDER);
    }

    @Override
    public String getLabel(){
        return "Name of your TickHandler";
    }

And registering it in your ClientProxy:

TickRegistry.registerTickHandler(new TickHandler(), Side.CLIENT);
