  1. Best thanks to you all for your replies and advice. I do appreciate that you took time to help me! I did get the mod my son wanted to work now (yeaaaah!!!)... and learned a lot that will help me next time (for the next mod...;-))! These are the pieces of information that I did not have beforehand, and that helped me : 1/ mods are specific of a given version of minecraft / forge 2/ it is possible to run older versions of minecraft by creating a new "configuration" in the appropriate menu in the launcher (you don't need to buy or install older versions separately, they are provided along with the most up-to-date version of the game when you buy it, and they are automatically included when you install it). 3/ it is possible to download older versions of forge and, once installed, they will appear for selection in the "configuration" menu of the launcher as well 4/ if the mod folder contains mods that are not suited for the version of forge you launch, the game will crash with an error message that does not tell you that this is the actual cause of the crash (in my case, either a "code 1" error, or a message saying that java could not start). This will happen even when just 1 "wrong" mod file is present in the mod folder, amongst many "right" ones. So, indeed, creating different mod folders (1 per version of the game) is the most convenient option. 5 Vanilla looks cool, too! ... and by the way, just when I had finally understood all this and got Rollercoaster to run, my son discovered that he actually wanted... not Rollercoaster but EXrollercoaster (another mod). Thanks to my newly acquired skills, I wasn't even annoyed and just found and installed this other mod in less than 5 minutes. I am sooo proud! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks again to you all, have a lot of fun today ๐Ÿ˜‰
